Currently, a group of scammers is
impersonating government officials and
calling students, claiming they are
involved in criminal cases or illegal
activities. Their aim is to instill fear
before tricking students into video
calls, controlling their behavior,
coercing them to reveal personal
information, and creating fake documents
impersonating universities. They then
use these documents to deceive parents
into transferring money, claiming the
students have received scholarships for
overseas studies and urgently need to
pay processing fees or visa
fees.
Students and parents are
urged to be cautious.
* Do not
believe anyone claiming to be a
government official by phone.
* Do
not video call or send personal
information, photos, or important
documents to strangers.
* Do not
transfer money under pressure or
urgency.
* If contacted in this
manner, verify the information directly
with the university or relevant
agency.
Students from several
universities have already fallen victim
to these scams. Please share this
information to warn others and prevent
further losses.
